Bilal Chughtai, MD
Dr. Bilal Chughtai completed his medical degree and residency training in Urologic Surgery at Albany Medical Center. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Male Voiding Dysfunction, Neuro-Urology, and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Chughtai currently serves as Chief of Urology at Plainview Hospital and Syosset Hospital, as well as Director of Clinical Trials for the Department of Urology at Northwell Health. He specializes in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and Male Voiding Dysfunction, with a clinical and academic focus on overactive bladder (OAB), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urinary incontinence (UI), urinary retention, catheter management, and urinary tract infections (UTIs).
His research spans prospective clinical trials, translational research, health services research, and real-world outcomes studies focused on lower urinary tract dysfunction and voiding disorders. He has served as an investigator on numerous investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies evaluating medical devices, minimally invasive therapies, and patient-centered outcomes in functional urology. He has also mentored medical students, residents, and fellows across both clinical and basic science research initiatives.
Dr. Chughtai has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to multiple urologic textbooks, published four books, and presented extensively at national and international meetings.
